6 skin care mistakes made during the dryness of Winter

Updated: Mar 30, 2020

Your skin is recognised as the foundation of beauty, we will see today 6 crucial skincare mistakes people make which prevents it from having the pleasure of moisture during this dry season.

1. Touching your face and pimples: people tend to touch there skin way too many times, if its either for keeping it clean or removing acne.

As much as this sounds like a need to do it, many people don't know that over touching your pimples as well as popping them increases the dryness of the skin and its revival for the nourishment of new skin. Popping your pimple is the underlying cause of dryness as it transfers all the dirt and oil on your hands onto your face and all the unsightly pus around your face and hands.

Instead of touching it, just let it be, keep applying moisturiser every morning, afternoon and night and try applying the recipe I added into one of my blog posts, the DIY natural face and body exfoliator paste.

2. Keep moisturising: don't forget it needs nourishment

Plenty of people, forget to keep the skin nourished. To keep it feeling smooth and soft we need keep applying moisturiser, or else the skin will become dry and rough. Now I know many people know this but, still this is one of the most underlying causes of dryness.

Keep applying moisturiser. I will post links later on to what moisturisers i reccomend.

3. Plenty of water and food, being dehydrated: your skin is the reflection of what food you eat

we all know that our body is made up of 75% water. Having less water in a day can lead to overall dryness in the body and on skin.

Keep drinking water to keep the skin moisturised and replenished.

4. Imporper Applying and removing makeup: there are better ways

applying makeup is lots of girls habit, but never forget to apply moisturiser before applying makeup or foundation. This helps to keep the moisture in, blend it and not dry out the skin with just the makeup. For removing makeup, many people still accidentally leave residues of it before going to bed and overnight this leads to dryness in the morning.

To wipe the makeup of properly, take a cotton pad and apply coconut oil to it and lightly rub the makeup of, this helps to moisture the skin whilst cleaning off the makeup. Which results in no dryness in the skin and readymade application of moisture.

5. Overdoing it

Everyone wants the perfect skin, but don't apply soo much skincare stuff on it that it becomes more dry. For example washing your face multiple times, may keep the skin clean but it increases the dryness of it as the moisture loses. Applying multiple skincare scrubs or facemasks in one day breaks down the barriers of the skin which increases pimple outbreaks and dryness.

keep a simple skincare routine where you wash your face once day and once night and apply moisturises every time you do afterwards.

6. Choosing wrong skincare products: Ask yourself, is this product fit for my skin type?

We all have different skin types, dry, oily, combined or sensitive. If we choose the wrong product type then we may be doing worse to our own skin. If in winter the skin gets too dry then normal then do take advice from a dermatologist for dry skin lotion.
